We are excited to have former collegiate softball player and current Pizitz Middle School softball coach Bevia Robinson hosting this clinic. Clinic times are as follows:
This clinic is free for all fall recreational softball registrants. Please let us know if you plan to attend the clinic by signing up here.
Vestavia Hills Girls Softball is offered to girls age 4 1/2 years to 12 years. The Fall 2023 age requirements for our 6U, 8U, 10U and 12U leagues are based on the new USA Softball age chart.
All registrants should register in their correct age group. Email VHGSoftball@gmail.com with any questions.
*Various development clinics will be offered throughout the season for girls looking to expand their skills this fall. Dates and times will be shared directly with registrants.
Registration will include a jersey, belt and socks for all 6U-12U players.
Parents are responsible for providing a bat, glove, cleats, pants, face mask, and batting helmet with face guard. Registered families should be on the look out for Dick's Coupons specific to our league!
The fall draft will take place on Monday, August 21st at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center (1090 Montgomery Highway, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216). Each head coach should plan to attend the draft or send a representative. Head Coaches will be notified by Sunday, August 20th if they were selected to coach.
We will not host an evaluation for the fall season, but interested coaches are encouraged to attend the August 19 skills clinic to observe the girls playing in each league prior to the draft.
On Tuesday, August 29th at 6:00 pm, VHHSHead Softball Coach John Simmons will host a coaching clinic at the VHHS Softball Field (2026 Pizitz Drive). This clinic is open to all coaches in the Vestavia Hills recreational softball program, and we encourage coaches, assistant coaches, and interested parents to attend.
Prior to the start of the season, teams will have 1-2 practices a week. Those practices may occur on a weeknight or weekend and are determined by the Head Coach.
Coaches have the option to continue to practice once the season begins. This will not exceed more than one practice.
Clinics will be offered in the Fall to all participants. There may be a fee incurred for any training given from outside coaches and for any pitching instructional clinics.
Games are scheduled once per week on Sunday afternoons. Girls will play approximately 5-6 games. Some age divisions can expect to play local leagues around the area while younger age divisions will play mostly inter-league games at Liberty Park.
All Head Coaches must complete a background check and Safety training per Vestavia Hills Parks and Rec prior to the season. Head Coaches must be approved by the Vestavia Hills Girls Softball Board for rec ball, CPL and All-Stars. Rec Head Coaches are eligible to submit their interest in coaching a CPL team and are required to facilitate tryouts if selected.
A Fall CPL season could include USA Softball CPL tournament participation on 1-2 Saturday's or scheduled games against other parks. CPL players must participate in the fall rec league.
All-Stars is not offered in the fall. It is specific to the spring season.
